Mrs Cross' Nail Shop Neon Holographic

I mentioned earlier that I have been obsessed with anything holographic lately. Well.. my other obsession is neon... So when I saw Leanne, the creator of Mrs Cross' Nail Shop release a neon holographic collection I knew I had to buy some.

I bought two colour, this gorgeous pink and a blue which I'll review later.

This gorgeous hot neon pink is called Raa Raa Skirt and it's part of the Disco Pop Neons collection.

I used 3 coats for the swatch and you can still see a slight visible nail line. In the future I'll probably layer it over a similar shade of pink to get full opacity.

The formula is very easy to work with.

It's very smooth and non streaky.

The holo was quite difficult to capture, and it looks like silver glitter in the photos. In real life the holo effect is much more apparent and it looks amazing in the sun.

Freckles Polish Holographics Haul & Swatches

Freckles Polish is a UK indie brand who sent me a few polishes to review a couple weeks ago. I fell in love with the polishes so I bought a few more! Julieann, the creator of Freckles Polish, makes some amazing holographic polishes. I literally want them all, but unfortunately I have to pay rent :(

I bought 4 polishes. From left to right: Papa Legba, Blue Lagoon, The Seven Wonders and Birthday Suit.

Full size bottles of 10ml cost £6.50, and minis of 5ml cost £3.50.

First up is Papa Legba.

This is a stunning deep blood red linear holographic.

I didn't have any sun on the day of swatching these so this is a photo with flash. In real sunlight (macro shot coming up) it's much more holographic.

This is inspired by the TV show American Horror Story.

Pastel Gradient Lighting Bolt Nail Art

I received some nail stencils from Nail Mail, a company on Etsy selling Nail stencils in all sorts of different shapes and designs. I kind of wanted to do a bit of everything... glitter, gradient, holo, lightning bolt...

I used Inevitable by Emily de Molly as a base. This is a silver linear holographic polish that's super holographic. Of course, living in England there isn't much sun....

Once that fully dried I applied the lighting bolt nail stencils. These are super easy to use. All you need to do is stick it on your nails, cover it with nail polish and slowly pull them off. Done!

To create the gradient is a little bit more work, but still easy. Once I applied the stickers I used OPI Alpine Snow to get a white base. This way the colours would pop.

Once the white polish dried I sponged the gradient. I used (from tip to cuticle) Models Own Apple Pie, Kester Black Blueberry, Models Own Grape Juice, Strawberry Tart and Peach Melba.

As soon as I was done with the sponge-ing I slowly removed the stencil, following the shape of the lighting bolt.

Apply a top coat and you're done!

Mod Lacquer - Paranormal Paradise

Last month the Indie Brand Mod Lacquer posted on their Instagram page that they were looking for swatchers, and of course I was interested. Jennifer, the creator of Mod Lacquer, makes the most amazing holographic nail polishes I've ever seen, but she also makes a ton of unique super sparkly glitter combinations. It's a 3 free hand blended nail polish brand.

I received three nail polishes to try out: High Strangeness, Aerial Phenomenon and Paranormal Paradise.

I decided to dedicate a different blog post to each nail polish, since I took about 100 photos of each of them.....

Sun

The third polish is this glitter bomb called Paranormal Paradise. This is a multi-size, multicolour holographic glitter polish in a clear base with large holographic circles in various colours.... I took that directly off of Mod Lacquers Etsy description... there is so much in this polish!!

The base keeps the glitter suspended so little to no settling occurs.

Sun

Here is my description of what I can see: it has teeeeeeny tiny little silver holographic dust glitter, some slightly larger micro glitters in pink and blue. Some slightly larger green holographic hex glitter, and even larger pink holographic hex glitter, and then some super large circle holographic glitter in various different colours.

The photo to the right shows the same large holographic circular glitter in different angles.

I used one coat of Paranormal Paradise for all the photos. All the glitters were easy to get out, apart from the large holographic circles, I kind of had to fish them out and place them on my nail.

I love how the glitters look over different bases. I think the dark blue and the pink look the best!

Mod Lacquer - Aerial Phenomenon

I decided to dedicate a different blog post to each nail polish, since I took about 100 photos of each of them.....

The second polish is Aerial Phenomenon, a bright pink linear holographic polish. This is so insanely holographic it's unbelievable! 

The formula on this is very similar to High Strangeness, it's applies smoothly without any streaks or unevenness. The polish also dries incredibly quick, so you don't have to worry about dragging the polish on the second coat, or having to wait 15 minutes before going to the toilet! 

I used 2 coats for the swatch and no top coat. The first coat is much more opaque than High Strangeness, but not quite opaque enough for it to be a 1 coater. The second coat completely covers up any nail line. 

I am so impressed with the holographic polishes from Mod Lacquer! I think my bank will be a little less impressed with I place an order!

Mod Lacquer - High Strangeness

I received three nail polishes to try out: High Strangeness, Aerial Phenomenon and Paranormal Paradise.

I decided to dedicate a different blog post to each nail polish, since I took about 100 photos of each of them.....

First up is High Strangeness, a very light violet linear holographic nail polish. It's even more holographic in real life than in these photos!

All photos are taken outside in direct sunlight. The holo is most obvious and beautiful in the sun, although you can still easily see the holographic effect in artificial lighting.

I used 2 coats for the photos and no top coat. I found the first coat was very sheer, and would probably look beautiful layered over another colour. However, the second coat completely covered everything up beautiful! Absolutely no visible nail line.

The formula was very smooth and applied evenly. Even with the sheer first coat, there were no streaks.

The polish dried quickly and applying a second coat was just as easy. With some holographic nail polishes I found that if you don't wait long enough the second coat will drag the first coat and create bald spots. I had no issues with that whatsoever.

A quick summery:
Easy, quick drying, non streaky formula
2 coats for full opacity
Insanely holographic, even indoors
Beautiful light violet shade
Hand blended 3 free formula.

Hema Kingston Haul & Swatches

Hema is a very popular department store that sells absolutely anything, and they have recently come to the UK! They have opened three stores, one in Victoria Station, a second in Kingston and the third in Bromley. I have a previous post on the Hema in Victoria Station. I bought my first Hema Holographic polishes there and fell in love. So when the new Kingston Store opened (much closer!) I went back and grabbed the other 3 holos and couldn't resist this gorgeous blue.

First up is number 53 Holographic Blue. I have wanted a blue holographic polish for months but just never ended up buying it. Now I finally have one and it's amazing!! The top right photo is taken in the shade and the other three are in the sun.

The application of this was a little tricky and I used three coats. If you're more patient you can definitely only do two, but just make sure the previous coat is 100% dry or else it will drag the polish.

It's so holographic, it's amazing! In the shade it's a beautiful shimmery blue polish, and once it hits the sun it's a rainbow of different colours.

The second nail polish is 55 Holographic Purple. This one is the least holographic as you can tell by the swatches. Again the top right photo is in the shade and the other are in the sun.

I used two coats for full opacity and didn't have any problems with the polish dragging.

The holographic effect was barely there in real life and therefore very difficult to photograph. In the bottom right shot you can see there is a bit of holo but not as much as the other colours. It's still a beautiful purple shimmer polish though and it looks great on its own as well as with nail art.

The third and final holographic polish is 56 Holographic Bordeaux. This wasn't quite as intense as the blue holo, but still clearly had that holo effect. Again, the top right photo is in the shade and the others are in the sun. I was very surprised at how much I loved this colour, it's a very elegant fall shade.

I used two easy coats for the swatch.

I really like the amount of holo in this polish, I feel it's a little bit more of a sophisticated polish with just the right amount of sparkle - without going over the top!

The final colour is number 836. This is a a slightly green based dark blue. I immediately fell in love with the colour in the store, but once I got home it swatched quite differently from the bottle colour. The first coat is VERY green blue, nothing like the bottle, but the second coat added a bit more opacity and brought it back to the bottle colour.

It's more of a jelly formula, but at the same time very opaque and smooth. I used 2 coats for the swatch.

Just a quick warning, this post is going to have the most photos of the same nail polish out of all of my posts....

This nail polish is incredible. This is Milky Way - a holographic micro glitter. In the shade it looks like a silver glitter, but as soon as light hits it (sunlight or artificial) it goes crazy! I'm so happy I ended up buying this one!!

I layered it over Kester Blacks Lilac for these photos. I'm sure it'll look great over tons of colours but this post is already going to have a ton of photos so I thought I'd just stick to one colour.

Anyway! Like I mentioned before, in the shade this nail polish looks like a silver glitter. Still a very pretty silver glitter, but as soon as you step into any kind of light it flashes every colour of the rainbow!

Kester Black Milky Way

It's very hard to capture the holo so I blurred the photo. Look at all that colour! It's so vibrant and you can literally see every single colour of the rainbow.
