Free Nails Inc Polish with InStyle Magazine

This month Nails Inc is giving away four free nail polishes with InStyle magazine. It's a great combination of brights and pastels so there's something to suit everyone!

There is a gorgeous minty green, a red, pink and a purpley grey. The pink and red aren't very unique, and as you'll see from my comparisons coming up, it's easy to pass those up. The other two shades are great and I'd definitely recommend them.

First up is The Tide Is High.

This is a gorgeous mint which leans slightly more blue than green. It's beautiful and my favourite of the 4.

I used 2 coats for the swatch.

It was streaky on the first coat but the second coat covered everything up.

I did do 2 very careful coats, I think this could easily be a 3 coater, especially on my other hand!!

I compared it to Optic Wave from a little over a year ago.

Optic Wave is 1 of 3 polishes that I actually have a back-up of.

The Tide Is High is a much lighter version of Optic Wave. I think both are equally beautiful.

More info and swatches after the jump!

Next up is When Doves Cry.

This is a transforming grey. In some lights it looks like a pale dusty blue, in other lights it looks more like a dusty purple. It's a gorgeous shade.

I used 2 coats for the swatch.

The first coat was lightly uneven, but the second coat covered everything up perfectly.

It dries to a glossy finish.

I compared it to Fashion from Marie Claire Magazine in March of this year.

They're very similar shades, and both have the unique transforming quality, but When Doves Cry it's a bit darker.

Next is The Boys Of Summer.

This is a beautiful hot pink, but definitely not the most original shade. I feel like whenever Nails Inc is giving away their nail polishes in magazines, there is always a pink.

I used 2 coats for the swatch.

It was almost fully opaque in just 1 coat, but I felt like it needed a second one.

It dried glossy.

I compared it to Udderly Shocking Pink, which I won as a prize from @ThePolishList and @Yoomoo and I compared it to Fiesta also from Marie Claire magazine in March.

Udderly shocking Pink was identical to the Nail Inc Polish Sugarloaf Sunset, which came with InStyle Magazine last year.

Udderly Shocking Pink is slightly lighter and much more pink toned.

Fiesta, from Marie Claire Magazine in March, is much darker and red toned.

The Boys Of Summer is much cooler toned.

The last freebie is Love Will Tear Us Apart, a classic red.

I have about 132098 free reds from Nails Inc. Yes they are all SLIGHTLY different, do you need them all? No.

I used 2 coats for the swatch.

It could be opaque in 1 careful coat, but I had slight streaks so needed a second coat.

It dries glossy.

I compared it to a couple other reds..

My camera didn't really pick of the differences between the polishes, but in the end they're all reds.

I compared it to 2 Optic Flame polishes. One is from this year (2) and the other is from last year (1). Optic Flame 1 is much more of a jelly finish and very orange toned. Optic Flame 2 is pretty much the same.

Copacabana Coral from InStyle magazine last year is slightly less bright and muted. And it has a hint of coral.

My favourite is The Tide Is High, it's a really beautiful blue minty green. There was no reason for me to pick up all four of these, other than the fact that I love Nails Inc Freebies. They always have a fantastic formula, sometimes they have some unusual colours and they're just generally really easy to work with. My Nails Inc collection is quickly growing, I have a lot of their old bottles (these round ones), but I have no interest in their new chunky huge bottles. I also found that the nails polishes I have actually bought from them, I haven't liked as much. The freebies always seem to be better.

Will you be picking up any of these summery shades?

xx Elaine

  1. Ditto for the round Nails Inc bottles, I have a very extensive collection (over 500 different colours) but I'm not interested in the new bottles, so big and some are really chunky/heavy! In fact my passion/collection is focused on the old style bottles with the hand/finger image on!

    1. Isn't it such a shame they changed it?! I want all of my bottles to look the same haha. I don't have any with the hands on them, but they're so cute! I've seen them in TK Maxx a couple times!
